Michele Lombardelli
Biography
Michele Lombardelli (Cremona, 1968) is a visual artist whose research unfolds across painting, installation, and sound practices. His work investigates the relationship between image, sound, and space, operating in a liminal zone between abstraction, formal reduction, and listening.
Through essential chromatic surfaces, ceramics, installations, and sound devices, Lombardelli constructs perceptual fields in which sound does not accompany the image but instead defines its tension and duration, transforming the exhibition space into an active instrument of resonance. Frequency, silence, interval, and time become structural elements of the work.
Alongside his visual practice, he has long pursued musical and performative research. His work has been presented in museums, galleries, and independent spaces in Italy and abroad, including: Museo MA*GA (Gallarate), La Rada (Locarno, CH), MAC – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea (Lissone), MOT International (London, UK), La Triennale (Milan), Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts (Lausanne, CH), Spazio Leonardo (Milan), Museo XNL (Piacenza), B&B Gallery (Lugano/Paradiso), Cremona Contemporanea – Art Week (Cremona).
The sonic dimension constitutes a fundamental line of inquiry in his production: in 2014 he co-founded the project Untitled Noise with Luca Scarabelli, through which he has released several LPs on specialized labels—including Die Schachtel—exploring territories between electroacoustic music, improvisation, and experimental sound forms. For several years he has also actively collaborated with Jacopo Benassi, accompanying him in numerous performances. Among the most recent are: Palazzo Ducale (Genoa), Triennale (Milan), Francesca Minini (Milan), Ipercorpo (Forlì), Galleria Civica (Bressanone), Collezione Cristella (Cortemaggiore, PC), GAM – Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (Turin).
